Those of you in Melbourne tonight (or until October 17th) must get down to Gorker Gallery to check out what will be a phenomenal show, titled ‘Lyrics and Type’:
“Wooden Toy in association with the good folks at Semi-Permanent and Design is Kinky (DiK) have invited 17 leading international typographers, designers and illustrators to graphically interpret a line of lyrics by famous (both past and present) singers, songwriters or bands through a combination of experimental type and illustration. Designed as a build up to the release of Wooden Toy Quarterly’s soon to be published 7th edition – the ‘Music’ issue (Oct/Nov 2009), LYRICS AND TYPE aims to document each artists personal views on the importance of music ‘vs’ influence and inspiration.”
Featured above is JW’s own Karl Kwasny amazing rendition of lyrics from a personal favourite, Oh, Comely, by Neutral Milk Hotel. Other JW artists showing include Luca Ionescu, Luke Lucas, and Rik Lee.

Lovely work – the colours remind me of lavender. I think I will check this exhibit out. Thanks for the share.
